The rest stop

As we discover more and more of our new country, we came across something that we think is lovely. In almost every village you go to, you'll see chairs. A whole variety of different shapes and sizes!

Yes....random chairs just left at the side of the road as you can see in our photos. Sometimes they are empty, just waiting for a little old man or lady to sit down and take the weight off their feet.

Other times they are occupied by someone who is either taking a quick rest stop, or has paused for a catch up chat with a neighbour.

Whatever the reason, we just love the fact that this little tradition seems to be commonplace in the towns and villages we pass through. A place for an impromptu gossip with a neighbour or a place to simply sit in the sun. It is said that good fences make good neighbours, but perhaps the same goes for good chairs!
