We are Mandy and Finlay Gentleman - two passionate Scots enjoying the good life in Portugal! We once read a quote which said, ‘You’ll never know until you go.’ - and after talking about moving to this wonderful country for years, we decided in 2021 that it was finally time to stop talking, and live the life we have always dreamt about. 

 

Mandy’s background is in sports journalism. She has worked as a presenter/reporter for over 25 years - covering English Premier League clubs like Manchester United, and Liverpool. Her interviews were broadcast in over 185 countries around the world, and she was lucky enough to grill high profile figures such as Sir Alex Ferguson; Cristiano Ronaldo; Jose Mourinho; David Beckham; Jurgen Klopp, and Pep Guardiola.  

 

Mandy was born with itchy feet; and many years ago her love of adventure led her to start a little travel blog. Her dream was always to live in Portugal; and now that wish has come true, she’s determined to show others the, 'off the beaten track', places she’s discovered since first visiting the country 30 years ago.

 

Fin has spent most of his life on a bike! From winning the Tour de Trossachs as a teenager; he went on to represent Scotland and Great Britain, winning multiple titles including the Scottish Road Race Championship. He raced in France and Spain, and was a member of the Scottish team which won the British 100km Team Time Trial Championship  - the first and only time Scotland has ever won the title…and that was no mean feat as they beat the British Olympic team!

After deciding to step away from his bike for a bit, Fin had a successful career in retail, working for various multi-million pound companies. However, the lure of the bike proved too much, and he’s now firmly back in the saddle! After completing his Ride Leadership Qualifications with British Cycling; he’s now making the most of Portugal’s warm weather, and loves showing other cyclists what the country has to offer.
