Well there's a question, and the answer is - it's our little dream that is going to evolve in time and hopefully capture your imagination. We plan to launch part of the business in the near future; and as time goes on there will be lots of different elements to it, which we will reveal in due course. What we can tell you right now is that it will merge our passions together; and be all about bringing the best of Portugal to you. That may be on a bike; in a quirky country manor house, or at a beach or vineyard you probably wouldn't have found if it wasn't for us!
Something we haven't touched on much so far (apart from on our About Us page) is that Finlay is passionate about cycling. That originally stems from his days representing Scotland and Great Britain, to his experiences of racing in the UK and on the continent. It is now much more of a hobby; but he has also completed his ride leadership course with British Cycling, so he's fully qualified to share his passion with others. Fin maintains there's little that can beat the beautiful simplicity and satisfaction of a bike ride. So as it evolves, one element of Castaway Portugal will involve cycling.
Mandy's background in journalism has given her a love of research. Travel is her huge passion, and she has a real knack of finding those off the beaten track places that can make holiday memories last a lifetime. Not everyone has the time (or patience!) to sit down and find gorgeous little manor houses in the middle of nowhere; the boutique hotels with the wow factor, or the places you simply MUST visit on your travels - but Mandy has that patience! So another ingredient of Castaway Portugal will be introducing you to those little hidden gems.
So between now and when we launch the first bit of the business (when travel is easier) we plan to make Castaway Portugal the best it can be. In the meantime we wanted to set the website in motion so you could read our blog; be inspired by our photos on our travels, and generally see what we're up to. We think we have an interesting story to tell - after all not many people have moved countries during a pandemic! We're grateful to you for following our journey.
