Scottish summer sabbatical

It's been a couple of months since we left our base in the North West of England, and we have been staying in our home city of Edinburgh for that period of time. We can't stress how lovely it's been to make the most of being in the same place as our family and friends after what was a very long and difficult year of lockdowns and restrictions for everyone.

Over the last twenty years or so, we became accustomed to going up to Edinburgh for a couple of nights and then having to rush back to England for work commitments; so it's been fabulous to spend quality time not only catching up with all our loved ones, but also enjoying everything Scotland's beautiful capital has to offer. If you haven't been...what are you waiting for?!

We really wanted to chill out after a crazy time with the house sale; and our relocation, and after doing that in Edinburgh we managed to squeeze in a trip to Plockton in the Scottish Highlands, and enjoyed a wonderful time on the island of Islay in the Inner Hebrides - two places that hold very special childhood memories for us.

Now that travel restrictions have eased and it's a little more straightforward to cross borders than it was a couple of months ago, the time has come. We are preparing to leave the UK and head South to Portugal, and we are so excited about starting the next chapter in our lives. It's said that the first step towards getting there is to decide you're not going to stay where you are....so let's get this show on the road!
