Seville - a trip full of lights and tapas

Aside from stuffing your face with cheese and not knowing what day of the week it is, many people don't know what to do with the time in-between Christmas and New Year. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to change all that, and head off to Seville for a mid-festive break.

Our previous visits to the city have been during the warmer months, when it is regularly in the high 30s, so we embraced the cooler 18 degree winter weather which made it very pleasant for wandering around the streets. The city is beautiful at any time of the year, but the warm glow of Christmas lights transforms Seville into a magical wonderland.

The heart of Seville, with its iconic landmarks like the Cathedral and the Alcazar, takes on a new dimension when bathed in the soft illumination of thousands of twinkling lights. However, it's not just the visual spectacle that makes Seville a December delight. The city's vibrant culinary scene, especially its wealth of tapas bars, adds another layer of enchantment to any trip, and you definitely need long walks to burn the calories from all the delicious food!

Each tapas bar seems to have its unique specialty, whether it was the succulent Jamón Ibérico or the delicious croquettes and patatas bravas. Seville in December is a fantastic option to fill those festive 'in-between' days. Now....time for the New Year health regime to begin!
