Since moving to Portugal in August 2021, I haven't left the country! Finlay has been back to Scotland a couple of times to visit family; and pick up a new bike, but I stayed behind. A whole ten months in the same country. I was thinking the other day how funny that is - that ferry trip from Plymouth to Santander feels like a long time ago, but having said that it also feels like our time here has flown by.

When we were living in the UK, I don't think we ever stayed in the country that long! We were always booking holidays - partly to have something to look forward to away from work, and partly to escape the grey skies.

Now that we are lucky enough to spend the majority of the year under blue skies, we feel much more content. It has really been a joy to spend the last few months settling into life in the Algarve.

This week, we are travelling back to Edinburgh to see family and friends, and are looking forward to a few days of much needed catch ups. We are hoping for some nice weather, but you never can trust the Scottish summer! That is the other funny thing - living in a country with a fabulous climate means that holidays are not neccessarily all about the weather now. That was a priority when we lived in the UK, especially in rainy Manchester!

After our trip to Scotland, we have made the decision that all our holidays this year are going to be spent in Portugal. Travelling around this wonderfully diverse country and seeing what is on our doorstep. We have some amazing trips booked, and can't wait to share our travels with you over the coming months. In the meantime.....Scotland beckons!
