A Surreal Journey with Salvador Dali in Lisbon

You may have come across a new style of art exhibition on social media which has been taking major cities around the world by storm. We recently attended an exhibition which pays homage to one of the 20th century's most iconic artists. The interactive Salvador Dalí exhibition, set in the heart of Lisbon, invites visitors to dive deep into the mind of the surrealist master - and it is quite an experience!

Housed within a cistern built in the 18th century to serve as a reservoir for the Águas Livres Aqueduct, which collected water for Lisbon, it now hosts exhibitions and events. As you step inside, you're greeted by Dalí's whimsical world, where melting clocks and dreamscapes come to life. This is not your typical art exhibition and the venue is a dramatic backdrop to Dali´s work.

One of the highlights is the immersive virtual reality experience, where visitors wear a headset and are transported into Dalí’s fantastical landscapes. Imagine walking through "The Persistence of Memory," with its iconic melting clocks, or exploring the eerie yet captivating "Metamorphosis of Narcissus." This experience was our first trip into the VR world, and offered a new perspective on Dalí's complex; bizarre, yet undeniably genius mind!

Interactive installations abound. Visitors can manipulate digital versions of Dalí’s works, altering colours and forms, creating a personal connection with the art. Children and adults alike enjoyed the hands-on activities!

The interactive Salvador Dalí exhibition in Lisbon is more than just a display of art; it’s an invitation to experience one of history’s most imaginative minds. Whether you're an art aficionado or a casual visitor, this exhibition promises an unforgettable journey into the surreal. If you are in Lisbon, don’t miss the chance to step into Dalí’s dream world - it is quite a place!
