Having spent a lot of time in the Caribbean over the years, we are suckers for an amazing sunset. However the one thing we’ve always found sad is that it means another day of your holiday has ended. Since moving to Portugal, more often that not we’ve found that we rise early to make the most of the day, and we have a new found love….sunrise!
A lot of keen photographers prefer to spend their energy shooting during the day and taking stunning sunset images, but you can get some beautiful shots first thing in the morning as well. You might not be an early bird or a morning person, but if you're out and about trying to get a great shot; it means you don’t have to battle for a spot, or deal with too many people in your photos.
From our deck we are lucky enough to have a super sunrise spot and we find ourselves getting up, popping the kettle on and waiting until the colours are just the way we want them. That moment as the sun rises over the hill across the valley from us is just wonderful, and that’s what got is thinking about whether a sunrise can be just as good as a sunset - and it also heralds in a new day!
We are not sure whether we’ll still be up at sunrise in the summer months when it’s a LOT earlier in the day, but it’s certainly become one of our favourite autumn/winter pastimes.
Breathing that fresh morning air can really boost your energy levels for the day, and watching the sun rise and the world waking up can be magical. So why not give it a try….you might fall in love with that time of the day just as we have!
