In the last few weeks we have had some unbelievably hot weather. Many of you may have read the terrible stories in the news about the wildfires in Portugal, and those have been fuelled by the high temperatures and windy conditions.

Thankfully the fires have not reached our part of the Algarve, but we have experienced daytime temperatures in the high thirties, and thermometers at night have still hit the mid twenties which is pretty tough to handle!

On weekends when the weather is oppressive, our favourite thing to do is to escape to the West coast beaches. When it is hot on the South coast, there tends to be a bit of a cooler breeze on beautiful beaches like Castelejo and Cordoama. It provides a blissful escape from the intense heat, and is a lovely way to spend the day.

I know the heatwave has travelled across many parts of Europe and caused the Met office to issue a red extreme heat warning in certain areas of the UK as the country just isn't prepared for that intense heat. At least we expect it out here - and can escape to the beach to cool down! Our top tip if you come out on holiday here is to do exactly that - if you are too hot on the South coast - head West!
