Brave, or just chasing our dreams?

Someone once told us that we'd become quite popular when we moved to Portugal, and they were absolutely right! Last year was a whirlwind of activity with friends and family visiting us, and it's been so lovely to share these moments under the Portuguese sun. We've received so much encouragement, with everyone expressing pride in Team Castaway for taking the leap. It got us thinking: are we being brave, or are we merely chasing our dreams?

We believe that moving abroad is a test of character. Adapting to a new life and environment isn't always a walk in the park. What's worked in our favour though is the considerable time we took to make the decision. We were determined to ensure it was the right choice for us.

This journey has also been a remarkable confidence booster. We've confronted various challenges, from overcoming language barriers to navigating the intricacies of local bureaucracy. These experiences take time and patience, but we've embraced them as an integral part of life in Portugal. We've intentionally slowed down to synchronize with the more relaxed Portuguese pace of life, and we see that as a huge positive!

Moving abroad undeniably demands courage. Leaving stable jobs for an adventurous life in the unknown was a significant leap for us, and while we've found our footing, we believe it's essential to step out of your comfort zone to embark on such a journey—a decision not everyone is ready to make.

One thing we can say with certainty is that our lives have become infinitely more exciting. We're constantly meeting fascinating people and discovering new things, whether it's savoring local cuisine; exploring pristine beaches, or embracing unique customs. Many of our friends have said they would love to do the same thing, and we can't help but wish we'd taken the plunge years ago. If an opportunity to move to a new country presents itself, we wholeheartedly encourage you to take that leap into the unknown and grab the adventure with both hands!
